L'italiano delle nuove minoranze in Puglia. Un'indagine sociale e linguistica

Abstract

This study explores the foreign presence in the Apulia region and the linguistic and cultural dynamics related to multilingualism and the learning of the Italian language. Through a quantitative and qualitative field study, based on a questionnaire administered to a sample of 231 foreign residents, the research analyzes linguistic practices, the maintenance of native languages, and social integration processes. The study also examines how migrant communities are portrayed by Italian media, investigating migrants' perceptions and opinions on these representations and how they influence their integration. The findings highlight the need for inclusive educational policies and more balanced media communication to value linguistic minorities' contributions and promote genuine social cohesion.
